Why do you we write?

In that article I mentioned that I write to relieve stress. Since I published that article, I’ve discovered something about myself and my writing. I now have another motivator for writing, and that is PUBLISHING.

I can make something

Publishing on a forum like this allows me to show the world that I can make something. But I’m so new to this that I feel like a toddler who shouts, “I just went potty.” Sure, it’s an accomplishment but who cares?

I’ll tell who cares, I do! As well as 200+ other people. Last month’s earnings jumped to $3.98. Not enough to book the cruise but it’s enough to keep me going. At this rate I should be able to cover next month’s subscription fee.

So, you might ask. How is publishing like a tree? As a tree grows it builds upon last year’s growth. I am doing the same. Each piece I publish builds upon the work that came before it. Financial gurus call this compound interest.

And I am ALWAYS interested in what you guys think. As people read and comment on the work it fuels my drive to produce more. I will strive to grow from a mere sapling to a mature nut tree. That’s right a nut…
